Öll dóu þau 27 ára. Öll urðu að goðsögn. Hvað kostar frægðin, hversu þungt vega hæfileikar? Við erum öll úr kolefni. Við gífurlega hátt hitastig og þrýsting breytist kolefni í demant. Án þess þrýstings og hita er kolefni grafít. En með grafíti er hægt að gera teikningu, skilja eitthvað eftir, far, skrifa sögu. Sama efnið, en öðru vísi.
All of them died when they were 27. All became legends. What is the price of fame, what’s the weight of talent? We’re all made from carbon. With extremely high temperature and pressure, carbon changes into diamond. Without that pressure and heat, carbon is a graphite. But with a graphite, you can make a drawing, leave a mark, write a story. The same material, different structure. It’s a difference between shining for a second and blind the whole world, or write your own story for years. What has a greater value? Depends who response. Only Cobain had a child. She is now 22.

Tomasz Górnicki- f. 01.11.1986. Hann útskrifaðist með láði úr höggmyndadeild listaakademíunnar í Varsjá á 2010 í vinnustofu Janusz Antonii Pastwa’s. Ungur listamaður, sem hefur áhuga á ýmsu sem tengist raunsæi. Líkamleiki er grunnþema hans, farartæki til táknræns veruleika, slóð í átt að erkitýpum. Portrettið er spurning um kjarna mannsins. Górnicki vinnur á gríðarstórum skala, ásamt þröngu formi. Hann gerir tilraunir með að samræma mismunandi efni svo sem brons, stein, ál og textíl. Hann kannar eiginleika litar, hann flytur tvívíðar myndir yfir í þrívíða veröld. Hann hefur trú á því að skúlptúrar geti skipulagt og jafnvel skapað rými. Hann hefur tekið þátt í fjölda samsýninga og sett upp einkasýningar. “Ég heillast af náttúruformum og skipulagi þeirra sem á rætur að rekja til rúmfræði, gangvirki og spennu. Við þessa rökréttu byggingu/kosmos bæti ég tilfinningu/kaos. Varanleg tilfinning um missi er grundvallartilfinningin sem drífur mig áfram. Og fegurð jafngildir missi. Frysting augnabliks í skúlptúr er leið til að plata tímann og fresta hinu óumflýjanlega. Steinn, brons og stál eru farartæki mismunandi ástands sem ég vil hafa fyrir mig fyrir aðra.”
Tomasz Górnicki- born 01.11.1986. He graduated with honors at the Sculpture Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2010 in Janusz Antonii Pastwa’s studio. Young artist, whose interests revolve around realism. Physicality is his basic theme, vehicle carrying to the symbolic world, trail toward archetypes . The portrait is a question about the essence of man . Górnicki works with monumental scale, as well as a small form. He experiments with combining different materials like bronze, stone , aluminum, cloth. He explores the qualities of color, he moves 2D graphics to 3D world. He believes that sculpture can arrange, even create space . He was a participant of numerous collective exhibitions and author of individual ones. “I am fascinated by natural forms and their order resulting from geometry , mechanics and physical tension order. To this logical structure / cosmos I add feeling / chaos . A permanent sense of loss is the fundamental emotion driving me. And beauty is equivalent of a loss. Freezing moments in sculpture is a way to trick the time and postpone the inevitable . Stone, bronze and steel are carriers of states I want to keep to myself and to others.”
