We are Hyperboreans–we know well enough how remote our place is. „Neither by land nor by water will you find the road to the Hyperboreans“: even Pindar,in his day, knew that much about us. Beyond the North, beyond the ice, beyond death–our life, our happiness – Friedrich Nietzsche, Antichrist (originally published 1859)
Sumarsýningu Skaftfells, Samkoma handan Norðanvindsins , lýkur sunnudaginn 18. sept með tveimur viðburðum sem fara fram í Herðubreið og dagskráin hefst kl. 20:00.
Norska listakonan Nora Joung endursegir sögur sem styðjast við sögulegar staðreyndir, heimspekilegar vangaveltur og ljóðræna frásögn. Í gjörningum mun hún segja frá mismunandi virkni munnsins, menningarsögu hans, stúlku sem drukknaði og gúmmíbragði.
Stuttmynd skoska listamannsins Luke Fowler, Depositions, er hugleiðing um hvað getur orðið, hvað hefði getað orðið, hvað gæti enn orðið ef heimurinn myndi snúast í aðra átt.

Last exhibition weekend – The Assembly of the Hyperboreans ,

The Skaftfell summer exhibition, The Assembly of the Hyperboreans , concludes with two events Sunday Sept 18. Norwegian artists Nora Joung will do a performance and a film by Scottish artists Luke Fowler will be screened. Both events take place in Herðubreið community centre and begin at 20.00.
In a series of text recitals, Nora Joung tells stories through historical facts, philological ponderings and poetic means. She will tell a story about the different functions of the mouth, its cultural history, a drowned girl, and the taste of rubber. Luke Fowler’s films dwell on potentiality: what might be, what might have been, what might still be if the world were to turn in a different direction?
