prINT – the graphic project Münsterland Festival
Every two years – each time for five weeks in autumn-The Münsterland Festival makes its contribution to overcoming boundaries in Europe. That is a time when, by means of music, art and dialogues, the traditions and the attitude towards life of specific European country or of a region will pour in to the Münsterland region. Since the beginning in 2005, a special project for printmaking and graphic arts is part of the festival, organized by Kloster Bentlage and the printmaking association in Bentlage. 2019 the Münsterland Festival is celebrating it´s 10th edition. For this special 10th edition, the organizers decided to let 10 european countries take part of the festival, one of them is Iceland.

Printmaking from the ten partner countries of the Münsterland Festival
The cultural meeting place Kloster Bentlage and the Druckvereinigung Bentlage are longtime partners of the Münsterland Festival. In the autumn, the graphics project prINT with three exhibitions will be presented at the monastery’s economy as well as in the FARB Forum Altes Rathaus Borken and in the Galerie Münsterland Emsdetten. The Art Academy AKI in Enschede and the Bentlage Monastery also participate as organizers of a print graphics symposium with lectures on current topics in the art of printing. For the graphic project, ten artists from the ten partner countries of the festival spent ten days working together invited to the workshop of Druckvereinigung and a printing workshop in Lette. The artists worked in their preferred technique, but also on experiments and, inspired by the environment, on new motives. The exchange of techniques and the desire to try them produced exciting combinations. At the three different exhibition venues, the resulting printing works and other already completed works by the artists will be shown. They give an insight into the versatile possibilities of printmaking.

AKI ArtEZ Academie Voor Art & Design | Enschede (Netherlands)
The AKI is the smallest academy in the Netherlands, founded in 1949, further developed in the 1960s, and continues to uphold the principles of the time: individual education, as little as possible determined by structures or control systems, as far as possible focused on the human dimension and on the initiative of students and teachers. The AKI is part of the “ArtEZ Hogeschool” (Kunsthochschule Enschede / Zwolle), but attaches great importance to its autonomy as a small academy. The training promotes the individual development of the students and takes place in the three departments of fine arts, cross-media design as well as film and video.
