Open Call for a three months residency in Leipzig 2018 / 2019

Regarding artists working and living in Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Finland and Denmark
Residency period I: November 2018 – January 2019
Residency Period II: February – April 2019

The Goethe-Institut is worldwide the active cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany. It supports gaining knowledge of the German language abroad and fosters international cultural cooperations. The institute transmits a manifold image of Germany, contributing to cultural, political and societal life. The Goethe-Institut Denmark (www.goethe.de/ins/dk/de/index.html) is in charge of Denmark as a whole, the Färöer-Islands and Greenland. It also takes care of the cultural society in Aarhus and organizes program activities in Iceland. As a partner in bilateral and in European cultural exchange the institute supports the idea of an active cultural neighbourship.

LIA-Leipzig International Art Programme (www.LIAp.eu) is a ten year old art program and not for profit artist residency at the Spinnerei Leipzig (a 10 hectare big art factory of studios, galleries and art institutions). Offered is a 80 square meter furnished studio to live and work in, care taker, group show, and guest critique visit. The residency is fully funded (1.150 € per month). The stipend includes a group show in January for the first round and in April for the second round during the Gallery Tours of the Spinnerei (www.Spinnerei.de) and a one time payment of 500 € for alimentation and materials.

Full payment of 1.000 € production costs will be payed for the production of one print at Atelier für Radierung Maria und Vlado Ondrej (www.radierung-leipzig.de) etching studio. The project is aiming at a Northern European print edition being produced of six fellows in total to be part of a traveling exhibition. Please note, the team of the print studio especially works with artists who do not work in the field of print making. They help and teach everything necessary.

What are the requirements:
– your living and working sphere should be based in the countries listed on top of this page
– please sent a small text, no more than half a DIN A4 page about your motivation to come to
Leipzig or a project plan as a pdf file
– 6 images of your work and a CV
