Hina myrku daga nýja ársins, í janúar og febrúar 2017, mun Wind and Weather Window Gallery sýna gjörningalistaseríu í þremur hlutum sem kallast Nærveran; Völvan, Ráðgjafinn og Nuddarinn. Hvert hlutverk endurspeglar mismunandi þætti nærveru. Ólík snið miðla því sem fram fer, en viðburðirnir verða kvikmyndaðir og þeim streymt beint og að auki varpað á staði bæði í Reykjavík og erlendis. Glugginn mun því vera eins og gátt að öðrum stað, líkt og kvikmyndin spannar víddirnar, í senn til staðar en þó um leið óendanlega fjarlæg.
Serían hefst með Madame Lilith, völvu og boðbera í hásæti sínu, sem þokast úr þessum heimi yfir í annan í gegnum vídeómiðilinn í líkama Ásdísar Sifjar Gunnarsdóttur. Völvan færir upplýsingar um óendanlega nærveru með aðstoð tækja sem miðla upplýsingum. Þegar völvan er ekki til staðar í líkama, verður hún til staðar í upptöku. Í fyrri líkömnun Ásdísar á gjörningalistinni hefur hún notast við vídeó til að kanna skynjun og vörpun hinnar ljóðrænu ímyndunar á hlutlægar framsetningar. Völvan, í samvinnu við listakonuna Kathy Clark, birtist í þessari vídd í leikmynd og sviðsetningu. Í gegnum óendanlega nærveru sjáum við hvernig mismunandi lög miðlunar spilast út í raunveruleikanum.
Ráðgjafinn, Ásta Fanney Sigurðardóttir, mun bjóða upp á þjónustu í gluggaskrifstofu Innra eftirlits. Skrifstofan mun virka sem glufa og brú þar sem hinn óáþreifanlegi heimur kemst í tæri við hversdaginn. Ráðgjafinn er í senn spæjari sem skoðar hið opinbera eðli strúktúra, tekur það í sundur og véfengir gildi allrar uppbyggingu. Í gegnum orðaskipti fer fram rannsókn og ráðgátan grandskoðuð, Hvaða ráðgáta það kann að vera vitum við aldrei fyrr en við pöntum tíma á skrifstofu Zolta. Hún er alnánd sem sér og veit allt, og kannar samhengi aðstæðna fyrir hvern skjólstæðing.
Í febrúarmánuði mun Katrín Inga Jónsdóttir Hjördísardóttir kynna núning lista með þeirri nánu þjónustu sem fótanudd er. Katrín kannar núninginn milli áhorfanda og flytjanda með þessum nánu samskiptum sem felast í því að gefa og þiggja. Hún leggur upp með að miðla einlægninni sem listin vinnur að í þjónustu við samfélagið. List getur verið jafnnáin og einlæg og fótanudd, þótt hún sýni okkur það á óskammfeilin hátt. Fótanuddið er myndhverfing yfir það sem listamenn gera á öðrum sviðum, að koma áfram þeirri þekkingu að geta miðlað djúpri nærveru.
In the dark days of the New Year, January and February 2017, Wind and Weather gallery presents The Presence, an artist performance series in three parts featuring the Oracle, the Consultant, and the Masseuse. Each role will be representative of different aspects of presence. Varying formats will mediate the scene, which will be filmed and live-streamed, as well as projected at locations in Reykjavik and abroad. The window will act as a portal to elsewhere, just as video spans dimensions, present yet infinitely distant.
The series will begin with the Madame Lilith, the oracle and deer messenger in her throne, passing from this world to another through the medium of video in the body of Ásdís Sif Gunnarsdóttir. The Oracle brings information about infinite presence with the help of tools to carry the information. When the Oracle is not present in body, she will be present through video. In Ásdís’ previous incarnations of performance she has used video to explore perception and the projection of the poetic imagination onto objective representations. In collaboration with artist, Kathy Clark, the Oracle arrives in this dimension by way of set and setting. Through infinite presence, we see how different layers of mediation are played out in reality.
The Consultant, embodied by Ásta Fanney Sigurðardóttir, will provide services through her window office in the bureau of internal affairs. The office will work as a structure of Zolta, the consultant that takes on a role of a detective in forming an investigation of the mystery in an exchange of words through which the intangible world can reach the mundane. It is through structures such as offices that the officiality of transactions goes unquestioned. What mystery may be that we may never know until we make an appointment at her office. An omnipresence who sees and knows all, she explores the contexts of situations client by client.
In the month of February, Katrin Inga Jónsdóttir Hjördísardóttir will present The Friction of Art through the intimate service of the foot massage. Katrin explores the friction between the viewer and the performer through this intimate exchange of giving and receiving. She aims to relay the sincerity with which art is working in service to society. Art can be as intimate and sincere as a foot massage, although she shows us blatantly how so. The foot massage is a metaphor for what artists do on other levels, carrying on the knowledge of teaching intimate presence.
