Listasafn Íslands efnir í samstarfi við Mennta- og menningarmálaráðuneytið til hátíðardagskrár og málþings í tilefni af 250 ára afmæli myndhöggvarans Bertels Thorvaldsen.
Málþingið verður haldið í Listasafni Íslands við Fríkirkjuveg 7, fimmtudaginn 19. nóvember kl. 10.

The National Gallery of Iceland, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, will host a symposium honoring the sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen to mark his 250th anniversary.
The symposium will be held at the National Gallery of Iceland, located at Fríkirkjuvegur 7, Thursday, November 19th at 10 am.

Í ár eru 250 ár frá fæðingu myndhöggvarans Bertels Thorvaldsen, en hann er talinn hafa fæðst 19. nóvember árið 1770. Af því tilefni munu Sigurður Trausti Traustason, safnfræðingur og deildarstjóri safneignar og rannsókna hjá Listasafni Reykjavíkur og Aldís Snorradóttir, listfræðingur og verkefnastjóri miðlunar hjá Listasafni Reykjavíkur leiða göngu tileinkaða honum. Bertel var einn helsti listamaður Dana en hann var af íslensku faðerni. Hann bjó lengst af í Róm og var einn fremsti myndhöggvari nýklassíska stílsins. /
This year marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen, who was born November 19 in 1770. On that occasion, Sigurður Trausti Traustason and Aldís Snorradóttir from the Reykjavik Art Museum, will lead a walk dedicated to him. Bertel was one of Denmarks leading artists but he was of Icelandic paternity. He lived most of his life in Rome and was one of the foremost sculptors of the neoclassical style.
