Our society always becomes more and more polarized, with on both sides small minority that is active in discussions. There in between is a large group of people that is often less ideologically motivated and more practical reasoning, responding to developments in their own lives. You barely hear this middle group.
In collaboration with Trendbureau Overijssel, is Tetem, art space, investigating how we relate to a society that is becoming increasingly polarized. How do we deal with differences between people? What role can art and artists play in mobilizing and visualizing the silent majority? Since January six artists have done research on this “silent majority”. They attended various conferences in Overijssel and all submitted a project proposal. Four artists have been selected to develop new work for the Silent Majority exhibition: Anne-Marie Meertens, Domenique Himmelbach de Vries, Gunter Gruben and Viktoria Gudnadottir.
The exhibition “Silent Majority” is to be seen in Tetem, art space in Enschede (NL) from November 30, 2017 to March 4, 2018.
