IAN WAUGH: GLIMPSES OF CONNECTION (EXHIBITION OPENING)

Ian Waugh opens the exhibition Glimpses Of Connection at the SÍM Gallery on Friday 29th September 2017 at 6pm.

At the heart of the exhibition is ‘Glimpses Of Connection In Four Variations’, an abstract narrative video work featuring the music of Mikael Lind, cinematography by Julian Schwanitz, and starring Icelandic performers Halldóra Ósk Eiríksdóttir and Agnes Lára Árnadóttir. The work was created as a sister piece to a new music film ‘Moments We Lost’ to mark the release of Mikael Lind’s album Sounds That Escaped. This film will premiere to coincide with the album release in October 2017.

‘Glimpses Of Connection In Four Variations’ will screen alongside other video works produced over a three-month period in Iceland, during which Ian has been an artist in residence with SÍM (The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists).

Ian Waugh is a British film director and artist with an MFA in Advanced Film Practice from Screen Academy Scotland. Working between narrative cinema and experimental film, his work has screened at festivals in London, New York, Edinburgh, Stockholm, Berlin, Milan, Reykjavík, Kyiv, Busan, Mexico City, and many more worldwide.

In the summer and autumn of 2017 Ian has been based in Reykjavík during a residency with SÍM. Supported by Creative Scotland, he has been developing an Icelandic set feature film while producing works for the gallery.
